Funding opportunity for communities to host dialogue on opioid and substance use!

Posted on April 25th, 2017

The provincial government has provided funding to the Centre for Addictions Research of BC (CARBC) to distribute grants to community coalitions desirous of hosting and engaging their community in a dialogue around opioid and other substance use. More details about the already present opportunity and instructions on how to apply soon through a letter of interest are available here.

Notification of this call has already been extended within HM|HC to campuses involved in the Changing the Culture of Substance Use initiative, in view of their prior participation in relating to substance use-related issues, but it may also be of interest to others who wish to contribute to such community discussions.

This is an opportunity to model and encourage a health promotion approach to substance use and a dialogue approach to culture change. As the invitation indicates, CARBC is interested in supporting successful applicants in making their dialogue events, whatever form those take, to occasions that, rather than just disseminating helpful information, instead attract and elicit perspective from diverse sectors of the local community toward enhanced mutual understanding and a spirit of collaboration.

We look forward to your applications.
