More Inclusive Frosh Week

“Concordia and McGill are running training programs for student leaders to improve awareness about the importance of consent and alcohol consumption.

The motto for McGill’s orientation week is ‘No Froshee left behind,’ said Mitchell Miller, student life coordinator from the university’s department of campus life and engagement.

Frosh week had the wrong emphasis in the past and was centred on drinking, Miller said. It also didn’t appeal to some students.

‘Over the years there’s been a real focus on inclusivity and community building,’ Miller said.

Community building is a key phrase for the Milton Parc Citizens’ Committee, whose members were tired of the screaming, chanting and public urination, among other things, in their neighbourhood near McGill during frosh week.”
