Notes to and from Students Starting University

The CBC asked first year students moving into Simon Fraser University’s residence to share a message with their parents — and then (without seeing each other’s notes) the parents shared a message with their children, who are moving away from home for the first time. The responses range from humourous to heart-warming and offer a candid glimpse into the experience of settling into your first year residence. 

Criminology Student: “I will work on making new friends (maybe even a boyfriend).”

Parents: “Be safe. Have fun. We’re only a phone call away!”
