The UBC Student Society has launched an awareness campaign for sexual assault on campus. The cardboard sleeves of coffee cups are emblazoned with the statistic: 257 students suspended for cheating or plagiarism, 0 for sexual assault.
The objective of the campaign is to encourage students to offer feedback on the new sexual assault policy and ensure proper measures are in place for effective reporting.
“Basically our intention is to draw attention to the fact the non-academic conduct policy at UBC is not very well suited to dealing with sexual violence on campus,” said Kathleen Thompson, VP of External Affairs at the AMS.
