National Campus Mental Health CoP Webinar

Posted on May 4th, 2016

28 April 2016 | Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division in collaboration with the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services.

The third National Campus Mental Health CoP webinar focused on three key areas:

  1. Jonny Morris, Senior Director of Public Policy, Research and Planning at CMHA BC Division moderated a discussion on the CoP's emerging topics of interest, and created an opportunity for members to connect with each other, share ideas, wisdom and opportunities to collaborate in these areas further.  Campuses identified where they see themselves on the arc of change for student mental health and well-being.
  2. Ashley Humeniuk provided a "Deep Dive" look at the University of Calgary's Campus Mental Health Strategy.  Other participants were invited to share what their experiences of developing and implementing a mental health strategy on campus has looked like.
  3. Tayyab Rashid presented a “preview” of a new tool we are working on: a self-assessment and resource inventory based on the “Post-Secondary Student Mental Health: A Guide to a Systemic Approach”. This tool is designed to be completed by key campus stakeholders as a group, discussing specific questions in seven key areas of the National Guide. The collaborative process of completing the self-assessment will help to assess campus’ strengths, resources and identify areas of growth that are necessary in creating a campus community deeply involved in transformative learning and the mental well-being of students.
