Responding to Dan Reist: An HM|HC Talk around carrying on his legacy (Nov. 7, 2023)

This Talk was a special edition for the HM|HC community of practice to reflect further on the legacy that Dan Reist leaves for HM|HC to carry forward. Campus colleagues (including veterans Chris Balmer, Robin Higgins and Chelsea Corsi) as well as Jonny Morris, the CEO of CMHA BC, shared briefly about their experience of Dan and what he has meant to them. The HM|HC Co-Leads and others facilitated breakouts in which Talk participants jointly explored why and ways in which we might consistently apply (i) a humanistic perspective on health promotion, (ii) a culturally-attentive and responsive approach to substance use and other social practices, as well as (iii) a dialogical orientation to enhance mutual understanding and enable collaboration–three convictions that were crucial for Dan.
